Type of Business
The franchise offered is for the operation of a business under the name “Tutor Doctor” which offers affordable tutoring and online services at a student’s home. This franchise system or platform offers an effective alternative to students and parents who prefer to receive tutoring help in their own home instead of traveling to a learning center.
Corporate Information
We are a Delaware corporation that was formed on November 16, 2007. Our franchisees will do business as “Tutor Doctor.” Our principal business address is 2711 Centreville Road, Suite 400, Wilmington, Delaware 19808.
We have not offered franchises before in this or in any other lines of business. We have been selling franchises since January 2008. We own and operate one business of the type being franchised, in Toronto, Canada. This business opened in November 2007.
We are engaged in the business of granting and supporting franchises to franchisees under the “TUTOR DOCTOR” trade name and trademark. We have been offering franchises of the type being offered in this Disclosure Document since January 2008, and will only sell in franchise registration states upon the registration in those states. We have never offered franchises in any other line of business.
Investment
The total investment necessary to begin operation of a Tutor Doctor franchised business is $66,500 to $170,450. This includes between $43,700 to $131,700 that must be paid to the franchisor and/or its affiliate, as appropriate. Please see Items 5 and 7 for additional details.
We currently offer five types of franchises: (a) a Local Territory Franchise is $39,700; (b) a Regional Territory Franchise is $44,700; (c) a National Territory Franchise is $54,700; (d) a Multinational Territory Franchise is $87,700; and (e) an International Territory Franchise is $127,700.
We also offer an “empire builder” program that includes one Regional Territory and two Local Territories. The total investment necessary to begin operation of the empire builder program is $137,200 to $159,150. This includes $98,400 that must be paid to the franchisor and/or its affiliate, as appropriate. Please see Items 5 and 7 for additional details.
