The total investment necessary to begin operation of a la Madeleine Café in a “Bakery Café” prototype format is $1,230,360 to $2,254,160. This includes $20,000 to $56,460 that must be paid to the franchisor or its affiliates. The total investment necessary to begin operation of a la Madeleine Café in an “Express Café” prototype format is $448,250 to $856,353. This includes $20,000 to $56,460 that must be paid to the franchisor or its affiliates. If you sign a Development Agreement to develop multiple la Madeleine Cafés (a minimum of 2 required), the total investment necessary to begin operation of your first la Madeleine Café under a Development Agreement covering 2 to 20 la Madeleine Cafés is $488,250 to $2,529,160. This includes $60,000 to $321,460 that must be paid to the franchisor or its affiliate. The total investment necessary to begin operation of an existing la Madeleine Café under the franchisor’s refranchising program will be the purchase price you negotiate with the franchisor for the existing la Madeleine Café you acquire, plus estimated remodeling costs of $200,000 and the cost of real estate and landlord allowances. All of this amount except the remodeling cost must be paid to the franchisor and its affiliates.
