Golden Corral Franchising Systems, Inc. was incorporated in Delaware on December 6, 1985. Their principal place of business is 5400 Trinity Road, Suite 309, Raleigh, North Carolina. They do business under the names ““Golden Corral,” “Golden Corral Buffet & Grill,” “Golden Corral Family Steakhouse Restaurant,” “Golden Corral Steaks, Buffet & Bakery,” and “GC Grill House”. Golden Corral has offered franchises similar to those offered in this disclosure document since April, 1986.
Investment
The total investment necessary to begin operation of a franchised restaurant ranges from $3,541,104 to $5,854,116 for the smaller GC 11-S restaurant design, from $4,866,167 to $8,528,857 for the larger GC 11- M restaurant design, and from $2,059,717 to $4,170,836 for a retrofitted (conversion) restaurant. These ranges include $51,400 to $828,000 that must or may be paid to the franchisor or its affiliates for the smaller GC 11-S restaurant design, $51,400 to $931,000 that must or may be paid to the franchisor or its affiliates for the larger GC-11M restaurant design, and $51,400 to $931,000 that must or may be paid to the franchisor or its affiliates for a retrofitted (conversion) restaurant. The franchisor grants development rights to developers which enable them to open a specified number of restaurants within designated development areas under separate franchise agreements. The development fee is $20,000 for each restaurant to be established, and is credited against the initial franchise fee for each restaurant. In addition to the development fee, the total investment necessary to acquire development rights ranges from $100 to $16,000, none of which is payable to the franchisor or its affiliates.
