Content: This section will include name, business address, business form, type of business, years in business, years in franchising and other businesses the franchisor, parent or affiliates may be involved in.

Purpose: In this passage, you find out how the business was started and what transfers of ownership have taken place. It also tells you the history of the franchise organization, parent corporations and discloses any other businesses in which the franchisor may be involved.

Tips & Advice: This section is designed to provide the foundational information you will need in order to fully understand the balance of the document. Pay special attention to predecessors, affiliated and parent companies. You want to leave this section knowing what business the franchisor is in, what kind of experience the organization has in the business and especially the history and ownership of the franchisor.
